Material Care
Pleaura garments are engineered with advanced technical fibres. How you launder them directly affects their performance, longevity, and biological properties. These guidelines are written by the same people who designed the fabrics.
Universal Care Rules
Regardless of fabric type, these principles apply to all Pleaura garments.
Wash inside out
Protects surface fibres, colour integrity, and any printed or woven elements from abrasion during the wash cycle.
No fabric softener
Softeners coat technical fibres, reducing moisture-wicking performance and impairing the antimicrobial properties of silver-ion treatments.
Avoid direct sunlight
Dry in shade or indoors. Prolonged UV exposure degrades the structural integrity of Tencel and eucalyptus fibres over time.
Low-heat ironing
If ironing is needed, use a low setting with a pressing cloth. High heat can damage synthetic-blend fibres and distort fitted seams.
Care by Fabric Type
Each fibre family has distinct care requirements to maintain peak performance.

Medical-Grade Laundering
For garments used in high-risk clinical settings or infectious disease wards, standard home washing may not be sufficient. These guidelines apply to institutional laundering scenarios.
Temperature Thresholds
Hospital thermal disinfection typically runs at 71°C for 3 minutes (EN14065 standard). Pleaura Tencel and eucalyptus blends tolerate up to 60°C before fibre degradation begins. Silver-ion garments are rated to 60°C. Organic cotton tolerates hospital-grade 71°C cycles with minimal impact on structure.
Autoclave Notes
Pleaura garments are not designed for steam autoclave sterilisation (134°C / 3 bar). Autoclave conditions will irreversibly damage fibre structure. If autoclaved garments are required for your context, please contact us — we can advise on appropriate alternatives or institutional procurement.
Hospital Washing Protocol
When using hospital laundry services, specify: 40–60°C wash, chlorine-free chemistry, no optical brighteners, low-temperature tumble dry. Provide your laundry department with the specific care label instructions included with each Pleaura garment. We recommend bagging garments separately from linen loads.
